Learning Zone

Welcome to The Learning Zone, an area dedicated to all those visitors, teachers, students and enthusiasts who want to learn more about all aspects of the Park. We have information about the Park's geographical, cultural and natural heritage as well as a special section for teachers and visiting schools. For children of all ages, don't forget to look at our Spotter Guides.

A Wealth of Information for Everyone

As The Park becomes established and more visitors and school parties come to visit, we hope to expand our Learning Zone to include more information from visitors themselves as well as teachers and their students. You can start by sharing what you have found on our Facebook page. There are also a multitude of links in the website text to take you to  authoritative articles on a wide range of topics.

Plants & Wildlife

Learn how the Park offers a range of habitats each of which supports a variety of flora and fauna for visitors to study.
  • Botany - there are many examples of trees, flowers and grasses including some rare plants such as wild daffodils.
  • Zoology -  there is also a wide range of fauna – of invertebrates (mini-beasts), reptiles, mammals and birds.

Baseline Survey of Flora & Fauna

Early in the Park's development, we carried out a full audit of the plants and wildlife.  This gives us an excellent baseline against which to measure the the Park's future development. The attached survey contains information on the following:

School Visits

 Want to use The Park as a teaching resource?

Go to our Schools page where you will find guidance for visiting with groups of children. There's also really useful advice on how The Park can help in teaching various subjects, as well as tips on how to incorporate different aspects into the Key Stages of the National Curriculum. ​There's also a down-loadable Teacher's Guide which provides a useful summary.

What can you find in the Nature Park?

We have nine down-loadable Spotter Guides. Five for bugs and mini-beasts, birds, butterflies and fungi and another four, one for each Season showing you what to look out for. Download one (or all!) of our Guides and take them round the Park to see what you can find.
